CONSTITUENT PARTS
The structure of the metal detector X-finder
Image 1
Image 1 shows the general view of the metal detector.
The metal detector includes a bar (1), which is made with the ability to quickly change its length during operation to adapt to the user’s height. The height is adjusted by means of a locking bar (2). At the end (3) of the rod 1, with the help of the fastening mechanism (4), a sensor (5) is installed, with the possibility of rotation in space and quick removal, in the form of a frame with jumpers equipped with a connection point (6) with the rod fastening mechanism. At the end (7) of the bar 1 there is a handle (8) with an armrest (9) for ease of use. In addition, a device (10) for fixing the control unit 11 is fixed on the bar (1). The fixation of the receiving unit (11) to bar (1) can be of any form and should be convenient for a particular user. The Receiving Unit (11) may not be fixed to the bar (1) of the metal detector, i.e. the user decides where to place it during the search.
The Sensor (5) is connected to the Receiver Unit (11) by wireless communication, for example, via Bluetooth. The Receiving Unit (11) has appropriate programs and applications that allow the user to freely read the signals transmitted by the Sensor (5) and react accordingly. The Receiving Unit (11) provides comprehensive information about the search results via the respective applications.
SETTING UP
In order to assemble the metal detector, you only need to follow the following instructions:
- Connect the sensor with the plastic mounting bolt and nut to the rod hinge
- Adjust the height of the bar to suit your needs using the locking nut
OPERATION OF THE APPLIANCE
Turning on
To turn on the metal detector, press the corresponding button on the main control unit. After the main unit is turned on, it will immediately start searching for the sensor (search coil).
In order to turn on the detector, you need to bring any magnet or control unit to the appropriate place on the right protrusion (arc) of the detector, opposite the arc for charging the detector.
If you have done everything correctly, the head unit will automatically connect to the detector and the “Bluetooth” icon will light up in the upper right corner. After that, the metal detector will be completely ready for use.
Turning off
The appliance can only be turned off by pressing the button on the control unit. It, in turn, sends a command to turn off the detector. When switching off, the magnet does not need to be brought to the detector, because it will turn it back on!
MAIN INTERFACE
In the middle of the main interface is the VDI indicator, an important feature in many modern metal detectors. This feature helps users to determine the type of metal object that has been detected by the metal detector. The VDI is displayed on the screen of the detector as a number or segments, and the user can use this data to determine whether to excavate the found object.
The top left indicates the “noise reduction” strength, which can be edited by clicking left or right in the panel below.
On the top in the middle is the “Discrim” – this is the range that the detector will pay attention to and all values outside this range will be ignored.
To the left of the VDI value is the coil temperature in degrees Celsius.
Below the VDI indicators is the “Amplitude” indicator (line). This indicator shows how close the target is. The higher the value, the closer the target is.
At the bottom right are the charge indicators of the head unit and the sensor.
By briefly pressing the left, right buttons – the “noise reduction” parameter is adjusted on the main screen is indicated on the top left <NR5>
This parameter affects the search depth and sensitivity. If this parameter is too high, there may be overpowering and false positives. You can also move between other elements of the search engine while in the main interface. To do this, hold down the arrow on the keyboard for about one second.
Pressing the right button will open the hodograph (more details below).
Pressing the right button again will open the haystack. (more details below)
To return to the main interface, press the right button again.
Pressing the down button will take you to the ground balance setting menu where you can adjust the device to different soils.
Pressing the up button will turn on the flashlight behind the main control unit. To turn off the flashlight you need to hold the up arrow again.
Pressing the left button will take you to the main menu.
MENU
The first section in the menu is “Volume“, where you can change the volume of the head unit.
The second section is “Diode/Vibrate on/off“, where you can turn on or off the diode/vibrate on the main unit.
The third section is “Brightness“, where you can change the brightness of the main unit screen.
The fourth section is “Sound scheme“, where you can change the sound scheme. There are three schemes to choose from: Standard, 4-tone, Polyphony. (more details below)
The fifth section is “VDI Correction“, where you can change the ferrite index. (more details below)
The sixth section is “Discrim“, where you can change the upper and lower Discrim indicators. (more details above)
The seventh section is “Language“, where you can change the language. The device has two languages to choose from: English and Ukrainian.
The eighth section is “Wifi-update“, where you can install a new version of the device using your phone and Wifi. (more details below)
HODOGRAPH
A hodograph is a time graph that shows changes in the input signal as the sensor passes over an object.
SINOGRAPH
The sinograph (sinusoidal graph) in metal detectors is an important function used to visually display the signals received during the search for metal objects. This feature helps the user to analyze the nature of the signal and distinguish between different types of objects at depth.
The basic idea of a sinograph is that it displays information about the conductivity of an object at depth and the shape of the signal. When a signal passes through an object (e.g., a metal object), the shape of the signal can change depending on the size, shape, and type of metal of the object.
The sinograph allows you to visually represent these changes in the form of a sinusoidal wave or other graph. Metal detector users can analyze this graph to determine if it is a potential metal object and estimate its depth. The sinograph helps distinguish metal objects from other objects and makes it easier to find valuable metals or objects in the ground or on the surface.
VDI CORRECTION BY REFERENCE
A reference square token (Reference) is included for more accurate adjustment of the device. To do this, you need to bring the standard to the device in an open area with the device turned on and see the VDI value. If the average value is different from 79-80, then you need to adjust the VDI to 79-80 in the VDI Correction menu. For example, if the standard shows 75, then you need to add 4-5 points in the “VDI Correction” menu.
When the detector is not connected to the control panel, after a while the control panel will signal the lack of connection with a sound and flashing red diode
